ALL ABOUT THAT WAIST!

The hourglass figure is one of the world’s most desired body shapes among women and men because it signifies fertility. The likes of Iggy Azealea, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez who have appeared in countless magazines promoting and oozing confidence over their shapely figures, of course  airbrushed- but that's not talked about! It has become such a trend that women worldwide are using dangerous extremes to achieve it.

The corset started in the Victorian era when they were sewn into women's dresses to cinch in a women’s waist giving the illusion of a waspish shape. Eventually the love for the corset was lost after the Victorian era due to the health complications that people were experiencing including fainting and nausea to say the least.

In the 21st century the corset is back with a vengeance, still with the same health risks. It appears that the cosmetic motives for buying and using the trainer seem to outweigh any health concerns that women may have, especially when the product promises a new shape in weeks without extra hours at the gym or reducing calories!

The corsets are being endorsed and promoted on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and twitter by celebrities all over the world- most who are self confessed 'role models' who clearly would rather get paid for an endorsement than their followers health.

While the exterior may appear to be in shape, the same cannot be said for the interior.  There are severe risks of breathing difficulties, fainting, nausea, internal organ re -alignment and bad posture if fitted incorrectly.  The craze has whipped the female population into a frenzy: everyone’s doing it.  The choice that women need to make is whether vanity and acceptance offsets the price of their future health!
